10th Anniversary of Aphex Twin’s “Selected Ambient Works”

January 13th, 2004 by Koldo Barroso

10 years ago today, in January 1994, Aphex Twin released his double album “Selected Ambient Works 85-92″, which is considered one of the most influential ambient works of electronic music from the 90’s.

Released on the R&S label, “Selected Ambient Works 85-92″ is a collection of ambient electronic pieces that were allegedly recorded at home by a 14 year old Richard D. James, directly to cassette tape that was then chewed up by his cat.

In 1994 Aphex Twin released on the Warp label a sequel titled “Selected Ambient Works Vol 2″, which was another milestone in ambient and minimal electronic music from the 90’s.
