10th Anniversary of Raster Noton label

August 1st, 2004

10 years ago now, in August 1994, Carsten Nicolai (aka Noto) founded the Noton label. Five years later Nicolai’s label merged with Frank Bretschneider’s label Rastermusic, giving birth to Raster Noton, one of the most interesting and innovative experimental labels of the decade.

Raster Noton released one of the most interesting series of minimal experimental music between 1999 and 2000 called 20′ to 2000 which won the 2000 Ars Electronica prize, featuring works by artists like Komet, Ilpo Vaisanen, Ryoji Ikeda, CoH, Thomas Brinkman, Scanner, Noto, Mika Vainio, and Elph.
