15 years ago today, on July the 1st 1989, the first Love Parade festival was celebrated in Berlin attended by 150 people.

Berlin Love Parade is the first and most important dance street parade in the world. The first Love Parade featured just a couple of trucks and about 150 people. It was organized by Dr. Motte and a collective of DJ’s from the Berlin scene as a demonstration of the power of communication of dance music standing for peace, love, unity, and respect (PLUR). Since 1990, the parade starting getting a large gathering of the dance community in Germany, and by 1994 the event had grown to 120.000 people from all over the world. By the new century the event would feature 1.3 million people and 53 trucks including some of the most important dance clubs and DJ’s from all over the world. Sadly, this year the most important dance parade in the world won’t be celebrated.
