25 years ago now, in August 1979, Gary Numan reached the # 1 in the UK lists with the “Replicas” album, one of the most important Electro Pop works in history.
“Replicas” was Gary Numan’s second album and it reached the top album charts in the UK and features the hit “Are ‘Friends’ Electric?” which was number one single in the lists for four weeks along with the album (remaining in the Top Ten for 12 weeks). “Replicas” was truly a breaking point for music of the time being the first Synth Pop album to reach such success and bring electronic music into the 80’s. It features big doses of Numan’s sarcasm and sense of humor with tracks such as “Praying to the Aliens” and “I Nearly Married a Human”.

A truly class album. Buy it, love it, buy the t-shirt. How could someone 21 years old make this up in a few weeks in a dingy recording studio in cambridge. Pure genius.
