25th Anniversary of Genesis -And Then There Were Three-
April 1st, 2003
25 years ago now, in April 1978, Genesis released on the Charisma label “And Then There Were Three”, which was the first album from the band as a trio after guitarist Steve Hackett’s departure in October 1977 .
The album was recorded at Relight Studios in Hilvarenbeek, Holland and produced by the band and David Hentschel. The trio line-up featured Phil Collins (vocals, drums), Tony Banks (keyboards) and Mike Rutherford (bass, guitar). For the live shows they were joined by guitarist Daryl Stuermer and drummer Chester Thompson.
“And Then There Were Three” reached # 3 in the UK charts and the single “Follow You Follow Me”, considered as the first commercially oriented song ever written by the band, reached #7 in the charts. The Genesis trio line-up remained during the following nine years of the band until Phil Collins departure in 1997.
