30 years ago now,in july 1974, The Moody Blues opened in West Hampstead (London) what is supposed to be the first ‘Quadraphonic’ recording studio ever built in the world.
The first commercial disk systems for surround sound were introduced in 1972, which were played using four speakers. It was originally Moody Blues producer Tony Clarke who remixed all the band albums for release on 4-track cartridge, the usual format for car tape players. Producer Alan Parsons also got to remix Pink Floyd‚s “Dark Side Of The Moon” and part of Mike Oldfield’s “Tubular Bells” in quadraphonic at Abbey Road Studios.
