30th Anniversary of Fripp and Eno
January 11th, 2003
30 years ago today, on the 11th of January 1973, Fripp and Eno’s debut album “No Pussyfooting” was released on EG Records.
The duo, formed by King Crimson’s guitarist Robert Fripp and Brian Eno, worked on a new revolutionary system based in the manipulation of revox tape machines to create delays. This meant the introduction of loop techniques and ambient works in the world of popular music. The duo recorded two albums with this system and later in 1977, both embarked in the production of David Bowie’s legendary album “Heroes”. Robert Fripp later released several Soundscapes albums using his own “frippertronic” loop techniques.
