December 5th, 2004 by Koldo Barroso
30 years ago today, on the 5th of December 1974, British band Yes released the album “Relayer”, which was the only one featuring Swiss keyboardist Patrick Moraz, and their 7th studio album.
“Relayer” was recorded at bassist Chris Squire’s mobile home-studio in Virginia Water (Sussex), and it represented the most Jazz Rock oriented work ever recorded by the band. The album became shortly a gold record and the same year Yes was the most popular Rock band of the year in the polls of Melody Maker magazine, gaining the positions for the Best Band, Best Arranger, 2nd Best Live Act, Best Composer to Jon Anderson, Best Guitarist to Steve Howe, Best Bassist to Chris Squire, and 2nd Best Male Singer to Jon Anderson. “Relayer” is considered one of the music master pieces from the 70’s.
