Aalacho – Electro – Review

AALACHO ELECTRO
AALACHO

Behind the moniker of Aalacho is the songwriter and producer
Nathan Scott based in Seattle, who is also founder of the Aalacho label.
Aalacho has produced this personal vision of Electro
Pop
music influenced by 80s European artists such as Kraftwerk,
OMD,
and The Replacements, with the collaboration of Seattle based musicians
Chris Brown (Jasper the Cat), Derek Armstrong (The Vacants), Joe Randazzo,
Trevor Hesse, and Sarah Severson.

The album, despite its title, is not just pure Electro
but a fusion of different styles produced with a sense of freedom that
is always welcoming. Some tracks are more classically oriented, like
Pompeii (a very well constructed Synth
Pop
track) and Atomic Playboy (with influences from Depeche
Mode
). On the other hand the album is more eclectic in tracks like
the instrumental Lift (featuring a wonderful work of deep bass sequences)
or Its Not About Love (a curious revival of the 80s metal guitars
sound).

Electro also features a version of The
Beatles
Ticket to Ride (I always thought youve got to have guts
to cover the fab four). Aalacho revisits the song with an abstract downtempo
mood combined with EBM
and electric guitars. The vocal work is really nice, I have to say.

Aalacho closes with a remix of Pompeii by the most solicited electro
DJ in the planet, Felix Da Housecat, who brings the song to the dancefloor
with his characteristic electro drum beats and pounding bass.

This is an album which Electro lovers may enjoy. Its quite personal
(especially because of the curious presence of electric guitars) which
its always a plus, and some tracks are good stuff for any electro session
at the club.
