Earthworks, the contemporary jazz band formed by prestigious drummer and percussionist Bill Bruford, will do a small UK tour during May.

Bill Bruford is considered as one of the best drummers ever in jazz and rock music. His CV includes having taken part of bands like Yes, King Crimson, Genesis, Gong, Pavlov’s Dog, and UK. He has also played with reputed musicians such as Buddy Rich Orchestra, Patrick Moraz, Kazumi Watanabe, Roy Harper, David Torn, Jamaaladeen Tacuma, Rick Wakeman, Akira Inoue, Al Di Meola, Tony Levin, and Pete Lockett.

During the early 80’s Bill Bruford was revolutionary by being one of the first percussionists in the world to experiment, both in the studio and onstage, with the first models of electronic drums, becoming one of it’s most famous users.

In 1986 Bill Bruford formed the electro-acoustic jazz ensemble Earthworks, whose debut album gained the first position in the list of jazz albums of the prestigious magazine "USA Today". Earthworks is currently formed by Mark Hodgson (bass), Gwilym Simcock (piano), Tim Garland (saxophones), and Bill Bruford. Tim Garland has worked with Chick Corea, and has released the albums "Made By Walking" and "Storms/Nocturnes". Mark Hodgson is one of the most required double-bass players in Europe and has also worked with artists like Randy Brecker, Cedar Walton, Eddie Henderson, Larry Coryell, Bobby Watson, Greg Osby, Bill Charlap, Sonny Fortune, Scott Hamilton, James Williams, Louis Stewart, and Georgie Fame. Gwilym Simcock won the Perrier Jazz Ensemble award in 2001. He has worked with musicians like Kenny Wheeler, Stan Sulzmann, Iain Ballamy, Julian Arguelles, Pete King, Don Weller and Steve Waterman, apart from forming his own bands.
