Calika is the moniker of Simon Kealoha, who has been making music for approximately 10 years, starting out from a love of hip hop and jazz, which soon got mixed up with a multitude of other influences such as electro and IDM, following a move to London around 1998. He moved to Brighton in 2000 and it was there that he met Mark Clifford with whom he released "Running Taper" on Polyfusia, after helping out on laptop with some of his Disjecta gigs. After releasing a track on an Audiobulb compilation as Calika, he released his debut album "Small Talk Kills Me". A follow up album is due out on Audiobulb in 2007. Around the time of the Calika album, Simon and Mark were joined by ex-Bordems drummer Eda and the band CEK was born with Simon on bass. The band have two or three EPs to release in 2006.
