Clock DVA
Clock DVA was formed in Sheffield, UK, in 1980, by Adi Newton, Steven Taylor, Charlie Collins, Roger Quail, and Paul Widger. Although the band started basically as a rhythm and blues band, after several changes of personnel in the band always featuring the leader figure of singer Adi Newton, soon their style switched to one of the earliest electronic and noise bands from the 80’s.
In 1982, the band released under the name DVA their debut single “High Holy Disco Mass”. After lineup changes the band remained as a trio, formed by Adi Newton, Dean Dennis and Paul Browse. After having released three studio albums, in 1983 the band split acrimoniously.
In 1988, Clock DVA was reformed featuring Adi Newton, Paul Browse, and Dean Dennis. Newton has been also involved, under the name of The Anti Group, in an industrial jazz project along with engineer Robert Baker. Both of them would also become the last incarnation of Clock DVA in 1993, releasing the album “Sign”. Dean Dennis has also released solo work under the moniker Sector.
