Drummer Jay Schellen joins Asia

It has been officially announced that drummer Jay Schellen has joined Asia after the recent departure of Chris Slade. Jay Schellen is a very well respected drummer in both the studio and on the stage who has worked with Badfinger, Hurricane, and World Trade and most recently participated in the Chris Squire/Billy Sherwood project, Conspiracy. Schellen also participated on the early demos for some of the tracks of the latest Asia album “Silent Nation”. Asia keyboardist Geoff Downes said: “We are very happy to welcome Jay to the Asia family and look forward to creating some of our best work to date with him behind the drum kit. We would just like to add that we wish Chris all the best and he will always remain a friend of Asia.” Asia are currently entering the studio to begin recording a new album, tentatively called “Architect of Time”, which may be released sometime in the first half of 2006 on InsideOut Records.
