Emulsion – Death of the Author – Review

May 22nd, 2004
EMULSION “DEATH OF THE
AUTHOR” EP
EMULSIONMUSIC
A solid and coherent work from this northamerican artist
who has recently toured the US supporting Invisible Records artists Railer.

The EP is a very tasteful fusion of different music genres including dark
electronica, ambient,
trip
hop
, noise
and EBM
in a beautiful and coherent balance.

The work opens with a dark ambiental/trip hop version of The Cure’s “Pornography”
that re-creates the naughty and gloomy atmosphear. This track will be featured
in the upcoming compilation on FTC Records “Strange as Angels: A Tribute
to The cure”.

“Is Lust” features a EBM powerful pounding rhythm creating a beautiful
contrast with ambiental landscapes of chords in a tasteful minimal work.

The intriguing baroque harmonies of “Undone” create a mysterious
climax in a beautiful ambiental piece.

With the suggestive tittle of “Every Machine Makes a Mistake”
opens the last track, an ambiental piece built with electronic
loops
that creates a disturbing and growing feeling of opression.

It’s good to find dark music like this where all the sounds, harmonies and
atmosphears are treated with taste and care.

If you want to listen some quality dark ambiental music you should go for
Emulsion.
