Group Petitions Against Kanye West’s Grammy Nominations

January 10th, 2005

Kanye West

The Mindset Army, a group organized on the internet of hip-hop fans, is
petitioniong to get hip hop "man of the year" Kanye West's 10 grammy
nominations revoked based on lack of authorship on his hit song "Jesus
Walks".

"Jesus Walks" states Indianapolis rapper Rhymefest as co-writer
although the group aledges Rhymefest actually wrote and produced the
track entirely and then sold it to West, who then re-recorded it for
his album "The College Dropout".

The practice of "ghostwriting" in the hip-hop community is fairly
frowned upon and the members of Mindset Army feel that it would be
disrespectful to the hip-hop community itself should he win an award.
