Kim Cascone – Gravity Handler – Review

May 16th, 2004
KIM CASCONE “GRAVITY HANDLER”

CRC

This is the first release of the CRC label in Madrid, who
have been supporting the digital underground scene during recent years and
particulary the work of Kim
Cascone
.

The album was produced by the U.S. artist by using a series of field samplings
recorded in Madrid. Cascone creates a one track enviromental passage with
some of the most characteristic sounds from the Spanish city, such as water
flowing through a fountain (very good choice considering Madrid is knowledgy
related with water energies), church bells, and other noises typical from
modern city life.
This is a beautiful abstract and subjective portrait of the city built with
the use of digital manipulation in the Glitch
style that characterises the latest work from Cascone.

The CD also contains a 4 m. mpg video featuring Kim Cascone playing live
in Tendencias Post-Digitales, Madrid 2002. From here we wish a long life
for this label.
