Ndio was formed from the ashes of the Holland-based Hugh Hopper Band from Soft Machine. Some time after the Hopper Band disbanded, saxophonist Frank Van Der Kooij joined Hopper, trombonist Robert Jarvis, drummer Pieter Bast, guitarist Niels Brouwer, and keyboardist Paul Maassen. This 1st CD release from the ensemble is a fluid and “airy” fusion of jazz with elements of rock, folk, ambient, classical music and sampling. |
