Born in Sheffield (UK), Richard H. Kirk is most reputed for being founder memeber of the pioneer electronic band Cabaret Voltaire.

In 1980, developing a solo career parallel to the band until it’s dissolution in 1994, Richard H. Kirk released his first album “Disposable Half-Truths”, followed by the albums “Time High Fiction” (1983), “Black Jesus Voice” (1986), “Ugly Spirit” (1986) and “Virtual State” (1993). In these solo works Kirk moved to a fusion of diverse music generes from dance-oriented techno and house to experimental, world music and ambient, always with great doses of creativity and innovation.

In the 90’s, after the dissolution of Cabaret Voltaire, he still continued releasing different solo works oriented to different electronic styles, including “Number of Magic” (1995), “Knowledge Through Silence” (1998), and “Darkness at Noon” (1999). He also started a collaborative work with DJ Parrott under the name of Sweet Exorcist.

In 1996, Richard H. Kirk released a series of 12″ singles on his own Alphaphone label under different monikers, including Electronic Eye (including three albums), Citrus, Biochemical Dread, Papadoctrine, Xon, Digital terrestrial, Agents with False memories, Blackworld, Orchestra Terrestrial, Chemical Agent, Multiple Transmission, Cold Warrior, Dark Magus, Robots+Humanoids, International Organisation, Nitrogen, Traficante, and Wicky Wacky. Some of this works were later compiled in 1996 by Touch on the double-CD “Step Write Run: Alphaphone Vol. 1.”. The most popular of his aliases though was Sandoz, with which he has released nine albums until 2004.

Richard H. Kirk’s latest releases during the 00’s were the series “Loopstatic” (2000) including an album and an EP, “T.W.A.T” (2003), and the collaboration with Pat Riot “Suburbia Uptown” (2004). Collaborations include Acid Horse, Sweet Exorcist, Xon, and an album with the vocalist from The Box, Peter Hope.
