Scorn

Scorn is the electronic music project formed in 1991 by the ex-members of Napalm Death Mick Harris and Nick Bullen oriented to dub, ambient, and drum ‘n’ bass.

The music of Scorn has evolved in different directions through the years. Their first work “Vae Solis” (1992) was mostly influenced by Public Image Ltd, Killing Joke and the industrial sound of Throbbing Gristle. “Colossus” (1994) moved into the territory of heavy beats and hardcore. “Evanescence” (1994) got influenced by hip hop, and later “Gyral” (1995) would mean an important turn in the sound of Scorn, getting closer to dance beats .

At the same time, Scorn started a parallel project called Lull, with a more complex orientation, releasing “Dreamt About Dreaming” (1992), “Cold Summer” (1995) and “Continue” (1996). Another project called Painkiller started featuring Mick Harris, the experimental musician John Zorn and the jazz bassist Bill Laswell, oriented to ambient free jazz, releasing the albums “The Guts Of A Virgin” (1991),”Buried Secrets in 1993, “Execution Ground” (1995) and “Rituals” (1995).
