The recently reformed British pioneer psychedelic band Syn will perform at the Marquee club in London to present their new material album “Syndestructable” before their forthcoming USA tour. The line-up includes original members Chris Squire (Yes), and Steve Nardelli, and is focusing their revival on modern progressive rock. Syn was born in 1964 and was one of the most active bands in London’s psychedelic scene during the late 60’s and had an infamous residency at the legendary Marquee club in London’s 90 Wardour street, supporting Jimi Hendrix on the 24th of January, 1967. Now, the band is back to the new Marquee club at 1 Leicester Square to pay tribute to their beginnings. Syn split in 1968 to give birth a new band named Marbel Greer’s Toyshop, featuring bass player Chris Squire and guitarist Peter Banks, which would shortly become the legendary progressive rock band Yes. The new line-up of the band includes Chris Squire (bass), Stephen Nardelli (vocals), Jeremy Stacey (drums), Gerard Johnson (keys) and Paul Stacey (guitar). The new Syn have described themselves as “Prog Modernists” and have stated that they are “taking the concept of progressive music into the 21st century”. Some critics are pointing that the band is leading a renaissance of progressive music. More info at: |
