Thomas Fehlmann

Born in Zurich, Switzerland, electronic music producer Thomas Fehlmann first aproached to the music proffesional world after he met guitarist Robert Fripp at a concert in Hamburg in 1979 during one of his “frippertronic” tours.

In 1980, Fehlmann formed along with Holger Hiller the synth pop and post punk band Palais Schaumburg with whom he recorded the albums “Palais Schaumburg” (1981), “Lupa” (1982) and “Parlez Von Schaumburg” (1984).

Thomas Fehlmann started his solo career in 1985, experimenting with sample techniques. He later moved to Berlin, where he kept in touch with the house scene to became a producer for different artists. In 1986, he released his first solo work “Uro Breaks” under the moniker of Readymade.

In 1989, he kep in touch with Alex Paterson of The Orb and started getting involved in the productions of the ambient band. This collaborative work longed for several years, getting involved in the production of the albums “Good Fridge” 1998), “One To Three” (2000), “Visions Of Blah” (2002) and “Lowflow” (2004).

Thomas Fehlmann was later involved with the Berlin Detroit techno scene and helped to take DJ legends like Underground Resistance over to DJ in Berlin. He also helped to forge a techno alliace between Detroit and Berlin and formed the 3MB Team along with Moritz Von Oswald to produce a serie of works with some of the best Detroit DJs, including Eddie “Flashin’” Fowlkes and Blake Baxter.

In 1990, while working as a manager for the band Fisherman’s Friend, he got Tom Thiel and Max Loderbauer involved in a new project called Sun Electric. Under Fehlmann’s production Sun Electric became an influential act in the genres of trance, ambient and IDM, releasing the albums “Kitchen” (1993), “Aaah!” (1994), “30.7.94 Live” (1994), “Present” (1996), and “Via Nostra” (1999).
