Born in Oulu, Finland, Sasu Ripatti, aka Vladeslav Delay, is one of the most reputed Finnish electronic artists related with the world of experimental and ambient music who has innovated in the generes of glitch, minimal techno, experimental, jazz, and dub.

Vladeslav Delay is a trained jazz percussionist and it is noticably integrated into his work. After a series of works of world music and electronic fusion, in 1994 Delay began producing abstract electronic music. In 1996, he started several experimental projects, being his first work the “The Kind of Blue” EP, released in 1997 for the Finnish label Huume. During the late 90’s Delay developed a method of track production that includes looping, sample weaving, and live reprocessing. His debut album “Ele” wa released in 1999 on the Australian label Sigma Editions.

In 2000, started gaining a reputation in the experimental scene with the long lenght pieces album “Entain” released on the Mille Plateaux label. A year later Vladislav Delay started experimenting with harmonies, dissonances and clicks and cuts, released on the album “Anima”. Delay has also gained international popularity throughout his minimal techno project, called Luomo, including the albums “Vocalcity” (2000), “The Present Lover” (2003) and “Tessio” (2003).

Vladislav Delay has released numerous EPs on the labels Force Tracks, Chain Reaction, Mille Plateaux and Resopal. He has also collaborated with spoken-word artist AGF on the album “Explode” (2005).
