Zoviet France - Biography

:Zoviet*France: are one of the pioneer bands of industrial and ambient music from the 80’s and have obtained somewhat of a cult-like status do to their sometime obscurity.

:Zoviet*France: was formed in 1980 in Newcastle Upon Tyne, U.K., by Ben Ponton, Lisa Hale, Peter Jensen, and Robin Storey. The band took their influences from krautrock bands such as Can, Neu!, and Kraftwerk, and electronic piponeers like Karlheinz Stockhausen. Having a huge collection of unreleased works, :Zoviet*France: produce all of their works from live improvisations of industrial textures, tribal rhythms and dissonant melodies. The first work of the band “Garista” (1982) was self-released as cassette, a format that they would use during all their career.

Later in 1982, :Zoviet*France: released their first official album “Untitled” on Red Rhino Records. Later releases include the albums “Norsch” (1983), “Mohnomishe” (1983), “Eostre” (1984), “Gris” (1985), “Misfits, Loony Tunes, and Squalid Criminals” (1986), “A Flock of Rotations” (1987), “Shouting at the Ground” (1988), “Just an Illusion” (1990), “Look into Me” (1990), “Shadow, Thief of the Sun” (1991), “Collusion” (1993), “What is not True” (1993), “Digilouge” (1995), “Feedback” (1996) and “The Decriminalisation of Country Music” (2000).

:Zoviet*France: has also included members Paolo Di Paolo, Andy Eardley, Mark Warren, and Mark Spybey.
